Laser Hair Removal

The CoolGlide laser delivers 21st-century technology for the treatment of this distressing problem. Cleared for permanent hair reduction, the CoolGlide laser can treat men and women of all skin types and tones safely and effectively.
The CoolGlide can remove hair from all parts of the body including the face, legs, arms, underarms, and back. It can also treat sensitive areas like the chest and nipples.
As the name implies, the CoolGlide hand-piece cools and soothes as it glides along your skin. When the pulse of light is delivered, some patients experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. No local anaesthesia or pain medication is typically required; however, some patients may prefer to use a topical anaesthetic when sensitive areas are treated.
Most areas require 3-6 treatments. However, the number of CoolGlide treatments required for optimal long-term benefits depends on multiple factors – hair thickness, the area treated and your hair’s growth cycle. Interestingly, not all hairs are actively growing at the same time and actually go through three distinct phases: growth, regression, and resting. CoolGlide treatments work by disabling the hair that is principally in the active growth phase at the time of treatment. Since other hairs will enter this active growth phase at different times, additional treatments may be necessary to disable all of the hair follicles in a given area.
Immediately following your CoolGlide treatment, the area may appear a bit red and swollen. Three to seven days after treatment you may experience what seems to be regrowth of hair. Actually, most of these hairs are being shed as a result of your treatment and are not regrowing. Between treatments you should not wax or pluck your hair, but it is permissible to shave.
Following the treatment, you can return to your normal activities right away, but some redness may occur. The use of sunscreen is recommended on any treated areas exposed to the sun. In addition, your physician may recommend that you use a specially formulated skin care product line or prescribe a skin care regimen especially formulated for your skin type.
Although patients experience few side effects, the most commonly noticed are slight reddening and local swelling of the skin, similar to a sunburn. These effects typically last for several hours or less. In rare instances, blistering may occur. Electrolysis is a tedious, invasive, and painful process that involves inserting a needle into each individual hair follicle and delivering an electrical charge to them one at a time. Electrolysis often requires years of treatments at regular intervals. By delivering light energy to hundreds of hair follicles at a time, the CoolGlide effectively treats an area in just seconds that would take over an hour with electrolysis.
Using the latest technology in laser hair removal, the CoolGlide can rapidly treat large areas without the limitations of older technologies. The CoolGlide longer wavelength allows it to be used safely and effectively on patients with light or dark skin as well as tanned skin. Alternative Hair Removal Solutions
Sugaring
Sugaring hair removal, an ancient middle-eastern practice using an all-natural paste or gel. It’s made to remove the hair follicle from the root with results that can last up to six weeks.
Only natural ingredients are used in the real formulation. It’s also been called sugar waxing because the paste is used very similar to waxing, although technically its incorrect to add the term wax to the name because wax contains resins, which are not present in the sugar paste.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The paste. Considered the traditional technique, a warmed thick mixture is applied first in the opposite direction of hair growth using the hands. It’s then flicked off in the in the direction of hair growth.
THE PROS
Someone experienced can do sugaring quickly with the paste. Large amounts of hair can be taken out at once, and finished faster than waxing. With most waxes, you have to apply them to a limited area- remove, go to your next area- remove and so forth. With sugaring you can speed things up because you don’t need to use a wooden stick and fabric to remove the hair.
Easy clean up. The paste is water soluble, meaning you can clean off any residue left on the skin with plain water. Wax is not water soluble, meaning it needs an oil-based remover to get rid of all residues.
Sugar paste can be applied over missed hairs. The paste is very gentle and can be put right over an area that was just sugared but missed some hairs, without fear of much irritation.
Temporary results can turn into permanent. Over time, frequent sugaring can cause the hair follicle to become damaged, and stop growing hair.
THE CONS
It’s hard to find a pro that does technique using the paste. Most salons and spas will have waxing on their menu.
Getting just the right consistency can be tricky. One needs a consistency just right for the paste to hold on to the hair, and this is easier on paper than in practice. A professional rule in life in general you need to do something 1000 times to call yourself a Pro – well in that case, we are Pro!
Some hair growth is needed. 4mm length is needed when using the traditional technique with the paste, which is about two to five days of hair growth after shaving, although this is also the case for waxing.
Lack of knowledge or cleanliness can lead to disaster.

OUCH FACTOR
Okay, it’s still pulling out hair from the root, but most people find it much less painful than waxing. Sugaring doesn’t stick to the skin as much as waxing, which means less irritation. The upper lip, chest, bikini and genital areas rank as the highest pain offenders. If you find someone experienced that uses the traditional technique with the paste, the discomfort is less because hair is removed in the natural direction of its growth (as opposed to waxing, which removes hair against hair growth).

Double dipping is when a therapist uses the same spatula for a hot wax treatment, that means that any skin infection or dirt could possibly be transferred back to the hot wax pot. Now imagine how many people have been waxed before you using the same wax pot ! its dangerous, unsanitary and disgusting and the warm pot provides the perfect environment for bacteria to multiply.
At Somalogic we never double dip, each side of the wooden spatula is used once and then thrown away.
Our therapists always wear gloves, and these gloves are changed for every treatment. During waxing your skin is very susceptible to infection, and any bacteria on the therapists hands will easily make it to your skin if no gloves are worn. If you think about it, did they wash their hands before your treatment ? did they touch s0mething dirty like a mobile phone ?
Never take that chance, you’re worth more than that
Do you really think that towel you’re lying on is fresh? You can bet that its the same towel every person before you has been lying on and who knows maybe all week. Dirt, bacteria and other nasty things can easily transfer to the towel, this is the same towel that you lie naked on, the same towel where blood transfer can occur (waxing can sometimes create skin blood spots where the hair came out).
