The CoolGlide can remove hair from all parts of the body including the face, legs, arms, underarms, and back. It can also treat sensitive areas like the chest and nipples.
As the name implies, the CoolGlide hand-piece cools and soothes as it glides along your skin. When the pulse of light is delivered, some patients experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. No local anaesthesia or pain medication is typically required; however, some patients may prefer to use a topical anaesthetic when sensitive areas are treated.
Most areas require 8 – 12 treatments spread between 4 – 6 weeks. However, the number of CoolGlide treatments required for optimal long-term benefits depends on multiple factors – hair thickness, the area treated and your hair’s growth cycle. Interestingly, not all hairs are actively growing at the same time and actually go through three distinct phases: growth, regression, and resting. CoolGlide treatments work by disabling the hair that is principally in the active growth phase at the time of treatment. Since other hairs will enter this active growth phase at different times, additional treatments may be necessary to disable all of the hair follicles in a given area.
Immediately following your CoolGlide treatment, the area may appear a bit red and swollen. Three to seven days after treatment you may experience what seems to be regrowth of hair. Actually, most of these hairs are being shed as a result of your treatment and are not regrowing. Between treatments you should not wax or pluck your hair, but it is permissible to shave.
Following the treatment, you can return to your normal activities right away, but some redness may occur. The use of sunscreen is recommended on any treated areas exposed to the sun. In addition, your physician may recommend that you use a specially formulated skin care product line or prescribe a skin care regimen especially formulated for your skin type.
Although patients experience few side effects, the most commonly noticed are slight reddening and local swelling of the skin, similar to a sunburn. These effects typically last for several hours or less. In rare instances, blistering may occur. Alkaline Wash - Alternative Treatment
Alkaline Wash is an Alkaline Powder, which is mixed into a paste and applied to the skin for approximately 3-4 minutes. The treatment works by taking the hair to a high alkaline level. This will dissolve the hair, part of the underlying follicle and is totally pain free. After the first treatment the hair will grow back at its normal rate, but as treatments progress the regrowth rate will become slower and slower usually resulting in permanent reduction.
Alkaline wash is also a chemical peel to the skin. It’s a very effective skin brightening chemical. It is safe on all skin tones. An alkaline wash will only dissolve fine fluff and will not dissolve eyebrows and beard. This skin is then neutralized to help return it to its normal PH level
Due to everybody’s physiology being unique, the therapist cannot guarantee how many treatments are needed or necessary, as permanent reduction. It is important to note that it is not marketed as an alternative to proven treatments like laser. It has however been noted that those people who prefer alkaline wash to say threading have noticed that over time the amount of regrowth has decrease and the intervals at which it grows back is longer.

Alkaline wash is strong with a pungent smell but we always finish the treatment with the appropriate products to restore optimal skin health. SPF is always applied post treatment and we recommend you continue this going forward – Daily!
It is physically impossible for your hair to grow back thicker or darker as the Alkaline wash weakens and eventually reduces the hair growth.
You can wear makeup from 8 hours after an Alkaline Wash treatment and if you can wait for 24 hours, it only helps your skin to settle before the make up application.
The treatment is totally pain free; however in some cases the area can appear red and warm. This is normal and will subside in a short period of time. If your skin is very dry you may flake a little over the next 4 days. We also recommend that you stop using scripted vitamin A creams or serum 5 days before your alkaline wash. 5 days is very conservative but we rather stay on the safe side.
Any areas of the face and the body can be treated provided the hair type is suitable. Only soft fine hair can be treated.
Yes you can because the coarse hair will then be treatd with laser should you opt for that. Only Fine hair is suitable for the Alkaline Wash treatment. Coarse hair is best treated with laser hair removal.
When you initially start, you will have the treatment as often as you would wax the area, for example every 4 weeks. As the hair growth weakens, the hair is reduced and your treatments will become further and further apart. These treatments are progressive – there is no one quick fix treatment that gets rid of hair permanently.
Alkaline Wash is better for removing facial hair as it will also improve the skin texture. If waxing causes the areas to go darker, Alkaline Wash will lighten the area being depilated. If you suffer from ingrown hairs or folliculitis, it will eradicate this concern and prevent reoccurrence. Alkaline Wash is a very effective skin brightening treatment.
